Beware of the Blog

(a.k.a. Paula's Occasional Blather
about Life in General)

A little over a year ago, I decided I had to adapt one of my Rory Gallagher tribute scarves into sweater format. It should have been a fast project, but then I Got A Job, and Time On My Hands was no longer something I had in abundance. That, plus my usual bad habit of having far too many irons in the proverbial fire added up to the sweater taking over a year to complete. Oh, well.

Overall, I am pleased with the end result, although there are a couple of things I'd like to do differently if I decide to knit it up again. Also, I'd like to learn not to make dumb faces whilst having my picture taken, but that has nothing to do with my knitting and desigining ability! And don't even ask me if I documented what I did as I went along, because all I have is a page or so of very pithy notes. Eventually, I may compile these into some sort of useable format, but for now I am just too darn lazy, and of course on my way to the Next Big Thing -- whatever that might be!

I have decided, at long last, to revamp Beware of the Blog, because it takes forever to download The Way it Was, and if you, faithful reader, are of the Dial-up Persuasion, no doubt you've gotten terribly impatient with me more than once. So, now that I am making a separate page for each entry, things should be easier and quicker. In time, you will be able to review every entry I've ever written from the main index page. Maybe not a necessary thing for those who have been with me from the beginning, but handy for a Newbie who might happen to find him/her self addicted to my Deathless Prose.

Phoebe's Lucy Bag is finally done. I had been dragging my heels on the final touch, needle-felting her nickname into the shoulder strap. I do not know why I put it off so long. There is really and truly something very satisfying about stabbing fibery inanimate objects repeatedly with a sharp pin, especially when the results hurt no one and release your own tensions and aggressions.

Having just got back from a lovely weekend in Maine, I should not have any tension and aggression issues right now, but alas! This is not a perfect world. We took our blissful weekend and promptly returned to The Rat Race. Or at least, hubby did. I returned to my house, and my yarn, and my latest dyeing projects.

The skeins pictured above and below are 80% merino, 20% silk, and what a great time I had changing their colors! Mind, there's nothing wrong with a natural cream color or a medium gray, but for some reason those colors just aren't hot sellers. I'm thinking about buying a gigantic turkey fryer so I can process 2 pounds of skeins at once, so one dye lot will contain more than enough yardage for a sweater.

I would love to say more today, but I need to go and have the car inspected. It's overdue. I hate it when that happens!

If you're curious about the hand-dyed skeins, or any of the other fibery things I'm selling, please visit (and bookmark) Mad Angel Creations. This is my eBay store, and while there are just over 50 items for sale there at the moment, the inventory will be increasing steadily over time. Clean, top quality stuff, stored in a smoke-free environment. No fancy name-brands, just good value for your money and my personal committment to the best customer service you can possibly imagine. Basically, I'll treat you the way I would like to be treated myself, and if you're not happy, I will not be happy either. That said, I look forward to each and every opportunity we might have to make each other happy!

Keep on craftin'...
