Hello.
Well, this is my little corner of the Web, dedicated to one of my favorite musicians, Mr. Rory Gallagher. I have one essay, a poem/song, and a bunch of cyber art I've been making from photographs previously posted all over the internet.
I have no idea who to credit for these original photographs, and hope no one will have a problem with my alterations. They are certainly done with all due respect, and I have no intent of making any money from them. I'm a novelist, not an artist. If not for my graphics program, these pictures would not be appearing on my site at all. I cannot draw to save my life. [grin]
Since I have seen requests for "Rory Art" and "wallpapers" on the Gallagher lists I belong to, I decided to try my hand at making a few. Fellow Gallagher fans, feel free to take what appeals to you, and use them. Most of them make great desktop images.
If you have stumbled upon this page, and are wondering, "Who the heck is this Rory Gallagher, anyway?", you need to make a start at finding out, and right quickly. RORY ON!!! is a great place to begin. There are many links to many pages, and if your curiosity is piqued by what you see and read, please visit any of the online CD stores for further explorations!
All of Gallagher's solo recordings have been re-mastered in recent years. Start with Irish Tour, one of the best live albums ever. As for studio albums, Tattoo, Blueprint, and Calling Card contain some especially fine work.
Sadly, Rory is no longer with us, but he left a great legacy of recordings behind. I am grateful for the existence of every single one of these, because I have only discovered Gallagher's music recently. Once I'd gotten my first taste, I had to acquire the whole catalogue. What an awesome talent this man was! One of my biggest regrets is that I did not hear of him sooner, and now the only way I will ever see him "live" is to watch his performances on video. (There are a couple available, namely Irish Tour and Live in Cork.)
For everything you did, for everything you gave, and for all you continue to give -- thank you, Rory, and God bless. May you rest in peace and sing with the angels...
